Aftermarket pads (WAS: Cool Carbons)
Larry recommended doing a set of Kelated Metallics (see R&T Dec. p. 162,
coincidentally) for street use and a set of Hawk Blues for track use.
The Kelated Metallic pads start fading badly above app. 750 degrees,
which according to him is easily reached on the track and possibly even
with *very* spirited driving on the street, and the Hawk pads are not
good enough cold for street use.
Not a bad solution. He estimated that he could do the Ketaled Metallic
pads for $109 for the front axle set (4) using backing plates supplied
by me and the Hawks for maybe $120 also using my backing plates. Much
cheaper than the Cool Carbons at $175-$200/set.
Does anybody have experience with CarboTech's pads (any kind)?
Thanks.
