Which Tuner??
Well, I haven't spent a lot of time researching this yet, so I thought
I'd ask for some advice. I'm looking into either a 90Q 20v or a
200TQw (Hi Scott!). With either one, I'm going to rework the suspension
and add some type of hp enhancement. The suspension I've already decided
on, Bilstein sports with H&R springs, and larger sway bars. But I'm
in the woods on the engine stuff. Most of my experience is with VW's,
so I could use a bit of help.
I noticed that IA doesn't sell a chip for the 90Q 20v. Are there no
real gains to be made here? TOP advertises +16 hp. Is that hooey, or
is there a noticeable gain there? (ie worth the $$$) What about Joe
Hoppen Motorsports? Anything for the normally aspirated 20v from him?
OK, onto the 200TQ, who's kit is the most complete and well thought out?
I'm going to be going with the mild stage of +60 ish hp, cause I don't
want to be swapping out turbos etc. Is IA the best or TOP, etc? What
does each kit include? How's durability affected? And for a silly
question, what did it do to your gas mileage?
Has anyone driven a stock 10v turbo and a 20v turbo back to back?
Worth springing the several $1000's to go for the 20v? I am aware that
the 20v has 217 hp vs the 10v's 160, but seat of the pants, how different?
Anybody know of any '91 200TQ wagons out there? I've located one in NY,
but the asking price is unreal --> $16,500. Ouch!
Thanks! Oh, BTW, I can probably get most if not all suspension products
thru some of my VW suppliers, so let fly if you'd like quotes.
