Re: Octane Requirements
Thanks to Avi Meron and to Mr. Powell for their feedback on Octane
requirements. My primary reason for asking was cost. My wife
travels 100 miles/day to and from her office. Over a period of a
year the difference between 93 and 87 would be about 3 hundred dollars.
These miles are highway miles with little load on the engine. For
spirited driving and performance I would not consider anything less
than premium. However, I think that driving a constant 55 - 60 MPH
may not require the associated high cost of premium fuel. IMHO.
Anyway, you have convinced me, (or scared me), that probably the safest and certainly
for the most performance, premium is the way to go.
