It sounds to me like you have a problem. When you hit auto, the snowflake
should default to on (don't ask me why). This means the compressor (A/C) is
active. Recirculation mode can only be on when the compressor is active
(again don't ask me about the logic behind these defaults). You can
manually turn off the compressor by pushing the snowflake button and it
should stay off.
