Funny, I never pegged you as such a cynic Glenn. :)
Seriously, I know I sound over-zealous about the USA Quattro Meet. It wouldn't
shock me at all if the topic died out and the meet never happened. That is
worst case scenario. I'm hoping that this idea is adequately appealing for
enough listers, so that it happens. Afterall, everyone on the list is a
enthusiast. We wouldn't be here otherwise. As an enthusiast, I'm more than
willing to drive two days, hopefully in the company of others (especially the
mechanically gifted ones), across the country to join up with like-minded
individuals.
The way I look it at, a few things have to happen in the near future. A
location and date must be set and generally agreed upon. Once that is firm,
discussion can move to the regional/local level of organization for the run to
the meeting place.
Somebody mentioned this, and I strongly agree, that the meeting place should be
an event already scheduled, like Pikes Peak. That way, even if the turnout
isn't spectacular.. the trip's endpoint has an added attraction.
In order for something of this scale to occur, we need to actually believe it's
possible. I know the way I am.. absolutely-overwhelmingly-obsessed. That's what
lead me to the Kanc and to the Lime Rock Picnic. I think that quite a few of us
on the list are equally, if not more obsessed with automobiles, especially
Audis. SO.." if you plan it.. they will come." :)
And if not.. then I think more regional meets will be in my future.
BTW: It surprised you that I made it to New Hampshire for the Kanc? Amazing
that I left NY and drove through much of that New England hell-hole to meet
with you guys? That should be sign enough I'm obsessed. (now loggin off to
avoid the return-fire)
