RE: Oil drain plug
Subject: Oil drain plug won't budge
Hi all, I've been lurking for a while and since I get the digest usually am to late to respond to any posts. But I've had this oil drain plug problem with my '90 Coupe Quattro as well. I learned a great trick from the Porsche Club (seems 928s also have aluminum oil pans) I use a six point 1/2 socket with a long handle. With the engine warm, take some ice and put it on the plug. This causes some shrinkage in the drain plug so it comes out easier.
I have a question as well: Does anyone know if the new wheels (6 spoke 16 inch) that are optional on the cabriolet will fit my CQ. (it's the same bolt pattern, the offset is 40 but I believe the are 8 inches wide instead of 7), if not how about the earlier 5 spoke ones that came on the cabrios? My car came with 3 piece BBS wheels which I don't think suit the car's clean lines.
Thanks,
