How Do I Switch the Radio?
Have a 91 200q with the Bose system in it and I want to have the radio switched
with the ignition. Actually, I want it to run off the power window relay so that
after you turn the ignition off, the radio won't turn off until you open the
door.
MY DILEMMA IS:
I looked through the wiring diagram, checked voltage at the leads, and looked at
the sticker on the radio, but still can't figure it out. HELP!
My first theory is that the radio cannot be switched with the ignition. The
basis for that assumption is that their are three leads that ever have power on
the radio. Only one is hot with the ignition off, the red wire. The other hot
lead is from the lights, and the other one is from the seatbelt warning signal
circuit (the one that bongs if you leave the radio on with the igintion off),
that terminal only gets 9.5 VDC with the ignition on.
Therefore, if I switch the red leads, the power to the radio will be lost with
the ignition off.
Additionally, there are two switched power terminals on the radio if you look at
the sticker. One of them has nothing hooked up to it, and the other one has the
seatbelt warning circuit light hooked up to it. What gives?
Has anybody changed their radio to switched versus unswtiched? How'd you do it?
