Shifting is one thing. This effect is sometimes seen when slowing down quickly
because brake applications lower the reserve pressure and thus slightly raise
engine revs to restore pressure - on some models, anyway. If I roll down a
long hill in my urq with the engine idling and brake hard at the bottom, engine
revs rise to 2000 rpm for a second or two before falling back to 650.
