Say what?  It came off in a matter of minutes on both my '81 and '85 4ks ...
you just have to fold back the little spikes and unravel the wire around the
seat base at the back side and -- voila! -- it slides right off.  Of course,
neither car had seat heaters so maybe your seat is different?  BTW, I had to
do this so I could get the seat pans welded up ... autocrossing with a 5-pt.
harness stressed the seat more than it was designed to handle and broke some
of the little spot welds that hold the pan in place.  If your seat starts to
list to the side, this is probably the reason ... an easy fix, otherwise.
