Well, it should be by now.

Group "B" started the trend - the only way to stop Audi winning is to ban them.
 
Audi's touring car success, as you probably know, is artificial - they have 
long been required to run an obsolete engine (no longer available to the 
public) because their standard consumer product is more advanced than the race 
engines their competitors can field.
 
AWD is another issue, where Audi is delivering a major drivability enhancement 
to a large proportion of their customers - a feature that their competitors 
cannot even demonstrate in the rarity of racing.
 
The mind boggles at exactly _what_ a current (5 valve) Audi engine in an AWD 
vehicle without a weight penalty would do to a field of BMWs, et al.  And 
that's without even thinking about the turbo.
 
"Vorsprung durch Technik" indeed.
