No doubt the platinum's last a long time. I have been trying to justify
replacing mine and they just won't die.
A lot of theory on spark plug technology on the last two postings, and I
enjoy reading them. But in practice the platinum's do not work well in my
car (86 5ktqw). I have had them for two years ,I wanted to give them a
fair chance. Also I can't find the tri electrodes anywhere in Ont. Can.).
The engine misses slightly at idling and just doesn't have the zip that it
had with tri's.
Some people love them, and I think it has to do with the type of driving
they do. I drive my car to work daily, 10 minutes there, 10 minutes back,
not on a freeway, so the engine probably never reaches the temperature the
platinum's like (although they're suppose to require a lower temperature).
>From what I read on the list, those who like them (get good performance out
of them) appear to drive their cars hard and more extensively. I think you
have to experiment with plugs until you find one that performs well for
you, then stick with it.
For me, I will go back to tri coppers once I find them.
