freak accident update

Well, we took a good look at the 86 black 4000q and the car is totalled.
Imagine.....a 10 mph shunt totals a car.......it bent the
firewall......yea, you hear me....the firewall.  Broke the tranny mount,
both engine mounts, bent the strut, destroyed the ac condensor......and
bent the removable subframe.  The firewall is the kicker......all for a 10
mph shunt........the wheels are perfectly fine.  Oh, and if it had had an
airbag that would not have deployed at the hit was on the wheels, not the
bumpers........fortunately, the parts car is not bent so all the body
panels go onto that and we go from there........

Needless to say, my son is shocked.  And I'm not sure whether another type
of car would have faired better or worse on this one......any ideas?
