for those lamps, trade-marked "Luminarc" high intensity discharge. These are
available in the Continental MK-8, some of the Caddilacs, some newer 700
Series Bimmers, possibly some newer Mercs.
The "Luminarc" lights are only on the Lincoln as far as I know. I've yet to
see any Caddys w/ these. BTW, according to one of the auto rags (can't
recall which one) these are not "true" xenon HIDs, but rather a less
expensive imitation.
I'm sure the Euro cars use Bosch (maybe Hella?) HIDs. I think the 750IL did
have these first, but not in 1989. Those were halogen ellipsoid lights which
have since been adopted by many, including our beloved marque. The Euro A8s
I saw last summer had these HIDs, but the AoA brochure says halogen
ellipsoid. Who knows...
