RIP Audi Q :(
Well... Ill start off saying that my wife is just fine. Thats all that
counts.
She was on her way to work this morning when an F150 blew a stoplight
doing "In excess of 45 mph" and hit her sqarely on the drivers side door.
The impact pushed her car (BTW, 89 80Q) 55 feet. The door would not open
at all. They used the jaws to extract her, forcing open the door and
cutting the A and B pillars. Then they had to use a hydraulic jack to
push the Rocker panel/door sill away from the dash so they could get her
out. After about 30 minutes she was out. She has a small bruise on her
knee, and a bump on her head from the B pillar. Thats all. She's home and
walking around just fine, as if nothing happened.
The fire cheif said how lucky she was being in an audi, because if that
were her honda, she wouldnt be so lucky.
The guy in the Ford did not fare so well..beleive it or not, the Audi won
this battle, albeit both cars are totaled. He had a concusion and was
bleeding pretty well, unconscious and one pupil dilated. Hes lucky I
didnt kill him.
And I just spent $500 on new tires and another couple on brakes for the
winter. *sigh* Oh well. I doubt Ill buy the car back, since it was pushed
so far, Im sure all 4 tires are flatspotted.
So now my quest starts. I would like to find her a 90 or 91 90Quattro in
excellent condition with low miles in this area. If anyone sees one, I
would appreciate it! Would also consider newer S4 or 200TQ.
Thanks all!
Ill miss that little car, its been great. It sacrificed itself for the
driver, and did its job well.
Bob
