Heated Winshield Squirters?

Didn't know if I had heated winshield squirters, but I went to replace one of
the squirters today, pulled the fluid connection off.....two wires were attached
to the squirter.

Of course, bought the one that does not have heaters on it (couldn't believe it,
only $2.98 with tax at the local rip-off Audi dealer!).

Questions:

How do the heaters get activated? By ambient temperature, seat heater position,
defroster switch position (guess I should be looking it up in my Bently...guess
I will..)

How do you attach the wires to a new one? I didn't see any connections at the
squirter, but didn't pull it out either. I see where the wire comes through the
hood, right next to the squirter hose.
