I've used Rain-X on and off for about ten years and never observed a problem
.  But it worked best on my old style 5000's.  The windshield was much more
vertical, and the increased air impact worked very well to bead and clean
the glass of water at anything above 25 mph without wipers at all.  On the
coupe it only works like that over 50 mph.  But it does reduce glare from my
sandblasted 'screen well.  Just an unsolicited endorsement, YM obviously V's
.  Have you tried Fog-X for interior surfaces?  I haven't used it much.
