Actually Snap-On makes a much cheaper alternative to the SAM17A.  It's a
3/8" drive one piece 17mm hex socket specifically made for vw/audi drain
plugs.  P/N is CPT110A.  List price is $11.40US.  I paid around $8 and
change.
