Alignment [2]
Folks,
In a phone call to my father last night, I discovered that my car is still
covered under a "lifetime warantee" agreement with the butchers, otherwise
known as Sears. *As if* it isn't stressful enough to take my car to a
oil-change place (where I pace the floor and watch the "operating room" with
keen eyes) I now know that in the interest of economics, I'll be taking my car
to Sears for an alignment.
A few months ago, I discovered that my Q has a bad LF hub. One of the
bolt-holes is stripped out. I discovered this one day when I noticed that there
was a Lug-bolt in the glove-box. One phone call to my father later, I find out
that THREE YEARS AGO my father took the car into for something or another at
Sears (I believe new tires) and the monkey-lad stripped out the hub with a
torque wrench! At the time, the mechanic agreed that he was at fault and
requested that my father come in and speak with the manager of the store to
arrange for repair or what have you. Guess what? My dad, Mr. Busy himself,
didn't bother and for the last three years the car has been driven with four
instead of five bolts in the LF wheel!
When I get a chance (hopefully on Thursday) I'll dig through the file folder
and find the "lifetime alignment" document, that probably isn't worth the paper
it's printed on. Perhpas I'll find something with documentation on Sear's
mistake, but somehow I doubt it. If I do.. any of you know how I could get
Sears to buy me a new hub?
Sorry for the bandwidth of which I've done little but whine.. but
damn..damn..damn! I'm a very unhappy camper.
