techron in tank vs regular use of Chevron

I was down in Atlanta (Chevron country) over Thanksgiving and filled 
the beast a few times with Chevron 93 octane.  It got me thinking..What 
is better to use: their gas only on a regular basis, their gas and a 
bottle of techron every 3k or just the techron every 3k and go with any 
of the good gasoline vendors?  

Also, what was the procedure with the additive? I think it was putting 
it in when filling the last tank prior to the oil change?
