Sorry, Audi, but a 540i 6-speed was my original choice. There was one in
Dallas with 7000 miles (no, I am not missing a "0" in that milage figure..)
that I negotiated on for about 7 weeks. It had all the bells and whistles
including the sunroof and CD changer. One Saturday, I decided "damnit, I
want that car!" and drove to Dallas from Oklahoma City (about 2:45 drive,
though I made it in 2:15 in my A4Q the other day....) on the spur of the
moment to get it. Half way there, I called and left a message on the
salesguy's voice mail to get it off the showroom floor 'cause I was coming
to give it a test drive and hammer out a deal. Got there, shook the guy's
hand, and said, "Well, I don't see it here on the floor--must be ready to
go, eh?" He looked at me sheepishly and said "Well, umm, we sold it an hour
ago.." ARRRGGGHHH! Man, was I pissed.

One thing was conspicuously missing from the above story: the price. I had
the guy down to $37k on it. Missed the buy of the year....

Oh well, I love my A4Q.
