Or, like on my 4k 5+5, the clutch cable broke when I pushed the pedal down ( I 
didnot realize that) and the car almost jumped thru a store wall when it 
started.

You are not alone here. A positive side effect: your car never leaps forward,
crushing a garage wall, when you once in a very infrequent while forget to
shift to neutral, before turning the key.
