Many of the 4000cs non quattros were 5 bangers.

      Hello Q-land,

                     Ok, Ok I guess I was just dreaming when I 
thought Audi built a 4000 non-Q 5 banger. At a public auction in 
Denver one summer, I remember looking under the hood of an Audi 4000 
CS with a 5 Banger in it. I counted the spark plugs! 1,2,3,4,5. 
looked at the badging in the rear and it said 4000 CS. NO it wasn't a 
Quattro cuz there were no diff locks and I looked under the car for 
leaks and exhaust condition and it was only front drive. Maybe an 
engine transplant? I guess it would fit pretty easily seeing how the 
Quattro bay and the 4 cyl bay are of exact same dimensions. Never 
even heard the car run though. I just figured all 4000 CS's were the 
5 banger.
