It's one of the reasons I bought the car!  Battery temperature is more 
stable in the COLD extremes, and perhaps even HOT extremes without the 
engine nearby.  More room under the hood as well.... but the icing on the 
cake is that I don't have to bring heavy gauge power cables thru the 
firewall and into the trunk for extra equipment (VHF/UHF transceiver, audio 
amp, cigarette lighter plug for Koolatron and camping, etc.).  God bless the 
Audi folks for that...  it takes minutes to hook up to the battery from the 
trunk, instead of a multi-hour exercise in tight fitting panels and 
futility.
