I wired my Kenwood, which could have been ignition independent (has an off
switch) to the "ignition on" wire but installed a switch with a diode (so it
doesn't send power to the other accessories) so I can run it with the
ignition off.  Too much spare time?  What do you mean?

It helps to have a philips head hammer and a 12 mm hammer to work on your
Audi.  Oh yeah and a full twist top hammer I guess!
