Something not telling the WG to begin opening. Or something holding the WG 
closed. That would explain the rapid spool up. Mine had a lot of crud on the 
valve stem that I cleaned off and the valve moved much smoother - also have 
some wear in the valve guide.  You mention this while only partially warmed up 
- does it happen cold or hot also?

Last couple of days, I've found a condition I think is quite entertaining,
any ideas what is happening?  Car is an '86 5KCSTQ.  Stock except for K&N.
While engine is partially warmed up, my wastegate or something else is not
working correctly cause it will boost up to 1.5 bar before the fuel pump
stops.  I know the guage is not off because it acelerates faster too.  Wierd
part is that the turbo lag is reduced quite a bit.  2000 rpms and I can get
1.5 bar in approx. 2 seconds.  Much less lag than before.  Any clues?
