Re: Sad but true, TQC < TQ

     John,
Sorry to hear you are so disappointed with your ur-q's performance.
Does the Abt computer modification involve changing the EPROM in the
computer or are they resistor/zener/op-amp modifications to the output
of the signal from the pressure transducer?

I know all the North American ur-qs have very "relaxed" boost/revs
versus timing advance curves. I've looked at comparissons between an
     '86 5KTQ and an '85 ur-q (and the '85 ur-q has a newer computer than
your '82 vintage ur-q, unless of course you have a Euro MAC01?).The
5XTQ has a lot more ignition advance at higher revs and higher boost
pressures than the stock North American ur-q. Of course the 5KTQ has
the advantage of a knock sensor to back things off if you run cheap
petrol. A North American ur-q was designed to run safely on the
poorest quality petrol of the early 80s.

I don't think any of this will make you any happier. And ignition
advance with the Abt computer may not even be a problem? Anyone else
     have suggestions????

     Happy New Year Audiphiles, Mike
