Thanks for the detailed reply.  I'll be really interested to see your pics 
on what the car looks like with the above-bumper mounting.  I'm still 
reluctant to mess up the clean front end, so I'm exploring mounting either 
side of the license plate below the bumper.  I saw a nice installation of 
PIA projectors (tiny), but I have no comparison for how well those work vs. 
the Hella XL's (and I already have the Hella's sitting on my workbench).

Eric's post on Euro's is interesting.  I don't think he means the Xenon's 
from the late S6's, but rather the standard 90's Euro fitment.  I wonder 
what his source/cost were?  I'll post this to see.
