A/C control head

I've been getting an intermittent fault indication on the digital control head
in my '91 200 and have done the Bentley diagnostics.  

The fault codes point to a problem with the "Temperature regulating flap servo
motor, V68 (with feedback potentiometer)" circuit.  I receive a fault code of
"8" on channel 1.  The wiring is good and the fault reappears regularly.  The
Bentley fix is "replace the A/C control head". 

 Any other experiences, possible cheap and or easy fixes?
