Looking at the jet black filter on my 85 4ksq (obviously
still the original filter) I'm more bothered by the remark
about never changing the filter than the one about the nuts.
Clogged filters do not flow! But loctite does a good job of
holding things together doesn't it?
While we're on the subject, I had an idea the other day I
wanted to share, especially for those with multiple cars.
After I pulled the control arms on my 84 4ksq, I took the
hardware to the local metric place to get nuts, bolts, etc.
Since the stuff is so cheap I picked up another set knowing
that I will eventually do the job on my 85. Way cheaper than
going to the dealer, although they could not match a couple of
things (like the tapered bolts that go into the control arm - I
just reused the bolts and used new selflocking nuts)
