Depending on the car, that light might mean more than just worn pads.  Check 
the brake fluid reservoir, and if that doesn't help and you have a sensor on 
the back of the master cylinder, pull the wires and see if the light goes out.  
If it does, it's low hydraulic pressure.  These cars are all different - check 
the driver's handbook or service documentation for _exactly_ what that light 
means.

Seat heater switched on for an unoccupied seat?

Check chassis grounds on the sidewall under the fusebox, in the engine bay and 
any brown wires attached to the engine.  Some of the instruments have dedicated 
ground circuits and bad ones confuse the display.
