I do, 
I am using an ext. amp, Yamaha and I had a lot of whine from 2,000 RPM and
up, I wrestled with that problem for a long time with more than $100 in
filters, finally fixed it by using a have monster cable for the RCA cable
and the engine whine went away completely, of course use one general
ground, BTW the head unit is also a Yamaha.
