Stongard on paint (min. Audi content)

Reading about the use of film on lights...

Just wondering if anyone has tried using the film on painted surfaces.
Here in Colorado we suffer from stone damage and when I repaint the hood
in the spring, I'd like to protect the leading edge with a small strip of
film. (Looks much better than a bra)

Would it yellow over time, is it adhesive backed, does the adhesive
affect the paint?
Anyone know?
