They really do warp. What you said was partially right. It warped because 
the section of the rotor that was grabbed by the rotor wasn't cooling at 
the same rate as the rest of the rotor. The rest of the rotor is cooling 
down but the section of the rotor under the brake pads is not as well as 
it's getting a continuous source of heat from the brake pads.
