On my 86 Coupe, just forward of the rear wheel (on the wheel arch), I
have clear adhesive-backed plastic covering (no clue on the
manufacturer). I have no idea if all of the Coupes had this or not (I'm
the second owner of my car). I bought my car in 89 and the film was on
it. It has not yellowed or had any noticable effect on the paint. I
haven't noticed any difference between the paint under the covering and
on the rest of the car (Tornado red), but I do keep my car waxed.
If you end up putting the film on your car's hood, let me know how it
works out. (I'm concerned about the paint on my girlfriend's 91 Coupe.)

PS: Went to Lake Tahoe Area (Incline Village, NV specifically) between
Christmas and New Year's in the 91 Coupe. Was VERY impressed with the
Quattro in the snow, and have been raving about its performance to
anyone willing to listen since then (But I did spare the Qlist of my
ravings)
