Steering Rack leak

Hey all...

As some of you may remember, my '89 200q has a steering rack leak and a bad
brake accumulator.  Thanks again to all who helped with suggestions for
places to get the parts!  My question now is how long can I go with the
leaking steering rack?  I know the accumulator should hold up a little while
longer, but I have no idea about the rack.  What should I look for?  Can I
keep topping the fluid levels off for the time being?  How I can tell how
bad the leak is?  I just am a little short on cash right now so I'm hoping I
can delay the repair.  Any help would be appreciated.
