Abt AS4

Just picked up issue 2 (November) of a new mag called Autostyle (UK).

What caught my eye was a picture of a stunning bright yellow A4 on the front
cover - the Abt AS4.

Abt are to Audi what Alpina is to BMW.

The AS4 is a highly modified A4 with a stunning body kit (chin spoiler,
side skirts, bootlid spoiler and rear valance) in bright canary (Duetsche
Post van) yellow and black trim. The only chrome being the grill surround,
front rings and boot(trunk) button.

Changes go more than skin deep though:
The engine is a 1.8T increased to 2 litres, a larger KKK turbo with max boost
17.4psi. Peak power is 306bhp at 6200rpm and peak torque 295lb-ft at 4000 !!
0-62mph in 5.5s and top speed 175mph! AND quattro (cf M3). Importantly
the car is apparently just as happy doddling at low revs as it is wrung out -
this is definitely not the case with the MTM 286hp mod.

Wheels are magnesium alloys 18 inch in carbon fibre dark grey.

Interior is copious black leather with bright yellow trimmings - definitely
not for the faint hearted, but then neither is the performance!

Doesn't come cheap - approx 52k UK pounds - do your own conversions. Shows
what's possible with the brilliant A4 1.8Tq as a base.

Contact address for Abt is:
Abt Sportline GmbH, DaimlerstraBe 2, 87437 Kempten, Germany
         Tel: 0049 83157140-26 Fax: 0049 83172666

BTW the mag has ads featuring the A4 prominently on the rear cover and both
front and rear inside covers.

I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks at the beach (Thule roof box fitted) so any
emails will not be answered immediately. Bye
