Oil Leak

 This mornining I developed a massive oil leak.  I had just check the level 2
days ago and it was right on.  While my wife was driving the car the
emergency light came on and the car was smoking, thank god she was only down
the street.  After inspection the leak apears to be on the passenger side
from around the oil filter down, seems dry above.  Can't determine where the
leak is comming from.  Any sugestions would be apreciated.  The hoses appear
ok, could it be the pump?  If so how expensive?
