Brake compensator.. What is it????

        I have been hearing this sound coming from the rear wheel well. I
can only describe it to sound like someone is plucking a large coil spring.
It happens when the body rolls the slightest. I asked my Audi tech(Roland)
And he said brake comp. But he failed to tell just what the hell that
was..........Anyone?????????
