           I had the Audi dealer in Denver order some of the plastic 
film protectors for the '87 5TQ. They've been on the car now for 
about~4 months and work very well! I've been skiing 4 times so far 
and get sand blasted by traffic every time I go. They're worlds better
 than the hard plastic removable units that I used to have. They stick
 very well(the backing is made by 3M). I also had enough of the material
 to cover the Bosch driving lights below the bumper. The units below 
the bumper have 100Watts in them and the plastic seems to handle the 
heat. Headlights still have stock wattage. Now if I'm lucky, I  
get to replace that $400 windshield only once a year!!  HTH
