Running a charger of any sort is an expensive upgrade. You'd be much better
off trading your car and buying a turbo.
I'm stuck with the same car (OK, it's an '89), and I've spent some time
thinking about this. The best way to get a few extra kicks is:
1) Schrick 268/272 cam. About $1000 installed. If you already
have the K&N, this will buy you 5-10 horses, and maybe 10
more pound-feet of torque.
2) Adjustable timing gear. About $400. Best with a good cam,
but will work with a stock one. This allows you to "dial in"
some extra fun on demand.
3) Port/polish/blueprint the head. Very variable $$$. Variable
results, but can help somewhat.
There's just not much more out there. Eurorace makes a 2.5L kit, and
a big valve head, but again, for the $4-6K, you can trade your car for
a 200TQ more easily.
