Making Audi a Player
Does anyone know who, or, more probably, what agency markets Audi
cars in the US? I also wonder whether AoA has any real imput into what
cars Audi sells in the US?
The reason for my questions.
First, stopped in an Audi dealership and had the guy try to sell
me a Volvo 850t. Now, how many times will this happen to you at a Honda
dealership--guy trying to sell you a Camry? Answer? Damned close to never.
Second, IMHO, Audi is missing the great resurgence of horsepower
in the US. Acrossed the board, hp is selling. Viper sales are up 29%;
Saleen Mustang S351 sales are booming; Ford is testing the market for a
380 hp "Explorer" [which, well, suffice it to say scares the s*it out of
me, given the tendencies it has had in the past]; etc., etc.,.
Message to AoA: Get your head out of your seat. Most of your
dealers are too arrogant to talk to, and have markups that make high
prices seem reasonable. Plus, THEY DON'T DRIVE THE CARS THEY SELL.
If you want to sell cars [and your numbers are going up, so
apparently you do] give us reliable service, even above average pricing,
and parts prices that don't effect new car sales. Foster the reputation
[which you don't have now] of producing fast, sure-footed cars, that are
reliable. There is a huge market out there [see Infinity; Lexus;
Cantera; M3 & 5 Series] so put some cars in it. Now, the A4Qt helps.
But, if a person is looking for a 4 door car, that will comfortably haul
4-5, that is performance oriented, Audi, at the present, doesn't sell a
single car in the US [except the A8--which is not priced for the
market--30-42k].
Sorry for the rant, but damned, Audi dealerships tend to really suck.
