Cold Start valve commonly bad?

Guys,

	I've been having a little trouble getting my 5KCSTQ to start 
lately (yeah, even worse then usual!  :-(   )  so tonight Brendan and I 
removed the plug to the cold start valve, becasue I can always smell gas 
when it fails to start, so I surmised that it was gettin gtoo much gas at 
startup.  It wouldn't start immediately, because it was already flooded, 
but a few minutes ago, I tried it, and it fired up as fast as any EFI car 
I have ever driven!

	My question is this - has anyone had a cold start valve go bad in 
that it leaks too much fuel into the intake?  I'll check it further later 
to see if this is really the problem.  Right now, it is too coooooold to 
work outside.
