BTDT (always wanted to use that acronym!)

I had aftermarket 15" BBS wheels that I originally bought for my '86 4KQ.
On that car they had a 1 cm offset difference that effectively moved the
wheels outward (greater track). I found that I had to do minor wheel-well
mods at the rear (bend in the lips of the wells) to avoid rubbing upon bump
compression.

When I bought my '90 90Q20V, I tentatively tried the aftermarket BBS's on
the new car, and had NO problems at all (no mods). From this, I am
assuming that this matches what you are about to try & thus answers your
question (I did not, however, compare the offsets of the OEM whls between
the 4K and the 90, I am just assuming they were the same).

On both cars, the handling improvements were enormous (in the dry). The
downside was that it did make the cars a lot more prone to tracking ruts
etc. on the highway (annoyingly so in some cases). You also need to be
much more careful over bumps/potholes etc. The shallower sidewalls make
it much more easy to put the wheels out-of-round if you hit something.
All of this was a price I was prepared to pay though for the improved
cornering and feedback, and the reduction of that on-center numb feeling.

Have fun ...
