RV Purchase ? (No Audi Content!!)
Hi folks,
Apologies to the masses for posting this non-Audi post, especially to those
who pay quite a bit for posts. However, this is the greatest resource I have
for information of this type.
Apparently, my father is moving towards the purchase of a used RV. I don't
know anybody with one, and we've never owned one before. Therefore, I'm asking
for any and all opinions.
From what I can gather the vehicle is a 1985 "something by Winnebago."
It has 25K miles on it. The engine is a Renault four cylinder. It is Front
Wheel Drive. From what I gather, it is equipped with a stove, shower, toilet,
a overhead AC unit, a normal AC unit, and two beds. I haven't seen the thing
yet, but I have the feeling it is a small RV. I think he said that it was a
Class C motorhome.
No offense to anybody, but I've heard that French made automobiles are
extremely unreliable. That's just hearsay, many people are under the impression
that Audis are very unreliable. It certainly hasn't stopped any of us from
enjoying them though, has it?? ;)
Pops thinks that it is a sweet deal. Low mileage, and it looks great. He
took it to a mechanic to have it checked out. Only thing he found was a leaky
exhaust system (to be expected of a vehicle which has spent most of it's life
parked). Cost was somewhere between 8-10K.
SO... what I'm asking is for opinions about the RV's, Renault engines, and
the cost. My father was ready to close the deal tommorow (Wednesday), but I
asked him to stall until I could gather opinions from the Quattro List.
I think it's probably wise to respond directly to me, instead of the list.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this, and once again.. many
apologies for wasting BW.
Look forward to reading my post asking about vacation spots, routes, etc
after this purchase decision is made. If we get it, I certainly intend to make
full use of it for my College Spring Break coming up this February. I'm
thinking the National Seashore in Florida (Pensicola?). Take care!
