"CD" certainly predates 1986.  I sold a 1982 80CD last year.

Also, I think the "CS" trim level over here (they're very rare) is lower than 
the "CD" trim level.
 
Years ago, in Germany, I drove an "80S" for a while.  It had no carpets (just a 
rubber composition sprayed into the footwells), no cigar lighter, no radio, no 
clock, no courtesy light, and no fog lights.
