Cannot disagree with 1 word you said, but--
Chrysler has really deep pockets and can afford a few loss leaders. BMW
sells in excess of 100,000 units in the US every year.
Poor old Audi just got itself above 20,000 for the first time in a long
time in '96 based mainly no the strength of the A4. Also remember that
the government requires lots o' tests for just about every
engine/body/tranny configuration.
At least on this list, Audi dealers do not generally get very favorable
reviews. How would you like to drop $38 to $60k for fun-to-drive and
image enhancing cars only to turn them over to semi-competent dealers?
I love your list. It is a truly great lineup; I'll take 4 of them. But
I'm really not confident that the wurstmachers in Germany are going to
let me live long enough to see anything approaching that lineup in the
states.
