RS2 Stuff
I got some general info on the RS2 from a friend who spends quite a bit
of time in Europe, and has some good contacts at Audi AG.
Turns out there were 83 of these hot rods made (they were made for a 1
year and a half). The engines, transmissions, differentials,
suspension, and brakes were all warmed over by Porsche. Porsche even
selected special ratios for the differentials and the 6 speed
transmission in the cars. The car will do 0 - 60 mph in 4.6 seconds,
and has a top speed of 158 mph. The engine makes somewhere in the
neighborhood of 315 HP, and runs a large KKK turbo (can't remember off
hand, but I think he said it was a K26). Engine even has special
engraved valve cover that says Porsche on it.
Anyway just thought these might be some interesting tid bits. He also
said he saw one for sale in one of the German Sports Car magazines a
month ago (I can't remember which one he said it was), and the owner was
asking 40,000DM for it! He called as soon as he got the magazine, and
the car was already sold. These cars are apparently hot collector's
items in Europe.
