It's one of the great mysteries. Some mag said it was because DOT and/or
NHTSA does/do not want a car so powerful, yet easy to drive that even
grannies can navigate it to the local supermarket.
But whatever the reason is, have you noticed that we don't get many "high
tech, high performance" vehicles as rest of the world? Maybe it's just
like the crappy U.S. headlights story. THe gov't is afraid that, if those
high-tech, high-performance cars come in, then the domestic car makers
will go out of business because no one would buy the unreliable,
inefficient domestic cars.
Alright, so that's a little bit far fetched reason... (^:
