Diff locking question ...
I have an issue on my "new" '87 5kCSQ when the diffs are locked and I thought
I'd post my symptoms to the list to see if anyone has run into something
like this before. I found that when I lock the center diff the car is
difficult to move and it appears that stress builds up in the drive line
as the center diff will not unlock until you reverse direction. This was
all done on dry pavement, but I've never had this experience on either of
the other qs. It is very similar to the effect I notice on the urQ when
I lock the rear diff and try to turn on the dry ... which is obviously due
to the difference in track lengths between the rear wheels. I checked all
four tires and found them to be the same size with similar wear. I'd
appreciate any thoughts ... the only one that came to mind while typing
this was that the FDRs on the front and rear diffs aren't the same. I
hope someone else has similar experience ... and that it isn't as bad as
what I just said!
TIA!
