Yes Jon!
UFO brakes are our affectionate term for special brakes that were originally
fitted to the '91 Audi 200tq20V and '90-91 V8Q models and refers to their
unique inside cliper design, whuch necessitated a doughnut-shaped carrier for
the brake rotors (hence UFO). While superior in swept area (while still
allowing 15" wheels) and stopping power, complaints have been about tendency
to warp and high replacement cost of rotors ($300-500 ea.). For owners that
complained enough during warranty period, Audi would update these for U.S.
consumers to basically 200tq brakes at N/C. Otherwise, conversions typically
run $1500-2,500. Mostly, thise with brakes just live with it or follow
extending life tips as found in archives.
